The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University School of Medicine is seeking M.D. and M.D., Ph.D. applicants for a faculty position in brain stimulation, with particular strengths in both clinical and research applications in the area of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Additional academic expertise in other brain stimulation techniques, including electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), deep brain stimulation (DBS), transcranial electrical stimulation (tES), and focused ultrasound is advantageous.

The Department’s Division of Brain Stimulation and Neurophysiology has a long history of clinical, research, and educational leadership in both non-invasive and invasive brain stimulation and is interested in building upon and extending these strengths. In addition to a strong clinical background in brain stimulation, the competitive applicant should have already achieved a high level of research productivity, including having established themselves as an independent clinical and/or basic science investigator in this area, including peer-reviewed grant funding as a PI, and a well-received publication record. Interest in secondary appointments and collaborations with other Departments is encouraged. They should be board certified in General Psychiatry and eligible to receive medical licensure in North Carolina.

Applicants will be considered for a faculty rank commensurate with background, experience, and accomplishment. The primary faculty appointment will be in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences with the possibility of secondary or joint appointments with one or more other appropriate departments at Duke. The Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences department provides the option of tenure-track and tenured faculty appointments. This position offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits.
