Central Carolina Surgery to become a Duke Health Practice on July 1

Central Carolina Surgeons

On July 1, 2022, the Duke Health Integrated Practice (DHIP), the physician faculty practice of Duke Health, the Duke Department of Surgery, and Central Carolina Surgery (CCS) will join forces.  CCS is the sole general surgery practice in Greensboro, NC, with additional locations in Burlington and Asheboro.  In July, twenty CCS surgeons, seven advanced practice providers, and their staff will join Duke Health and the DHIP.

“We are pleased to affiliate with Duke Health as we enter this next chapter in our practice,” said Dr. Matthew Tsuei, President of CCS.  “Since 1999, we have delivered top quality surgical care to the patients in central North Carolina.  This affiliation strengthens the practice by providing a robust support infrastructure, which will allow us to continue caring for this community for many years to come.  Our relationship with the DHIP will offer our patients quick access to Duke’s network of specialists, if needed.  We also look forward to participating in the academic mission of Duke Surgery as we help to train their surgery residents.”

All CCS surgeons are certified by the American Board of Surgery and are members of the American College of Surgeons.  Various members of the practice specialize in breast cancer procedures, colorectal surgery, weight loss procedures, liver and pancreas surgery, hernia repairs, and endocrine surgery, using the latest techniques including minimally invasive and robotic surgery.  The group also provides trauma and emergency general surgery services for Cone Health in Greensboro.  They perform surgery at five locations in the Triad.

“This partnership helps us realize our shared goals of providing outstanding surgical care to the people of central North Carolina. We are very happy to be partnering with an established, well-known, and successful practice of surgeons,” said Dr. Allan D. Kirk, chair, Duke Department of Surgery, one of the leading surgery programs in the world.   “The CCS surgeons and staff share our commitment to excellence and are ideal complements to our outstanding team of Duke surgeons.  We are also pleased to offer the patients of CCS access to Duke’s extensive network of specialists.”
