Duke Eye Center South Durham Is First to Open at Duke Health Center South Durham

On Tuesday, January 16, nearly 100 patients were welcomed into the Duke Eye Center South Durham, the first clinic to open at the new Duke Health Center South Durham, located at 234 Crooked Creek Parkway, in Durham.  Duke Eye Center at Southpoint on Herndon Road is now closed, and oculofacial plastic surgery has relocated from Duke Aesthetic Center.

Patients arriving on the inaugural day commented on the convenient location, welcoming entrance, modern and comfortable décor, and special features designed for efficient flow and easier access.

Some of the new features include low-vision-compliance with contrasting colors on the floor to enhance visibility for patients with low vision; 24 eye lanes designed to accommodate providers and staff; a new laser suite for retina, cornea, and glaucoma (LASIK is not offered at this location); and capacity to effectively serve as many as 250 patients each day.
