The Duke Smoking Cessation Program originated with the Duke Cancer Institute in 2016—one of many programs offered across the enterprise with the shared goal of reducing and ending the consumption of tobacco products, thereby dramatically reducing tobacco-related illness and death.

The program helps patients stop smoking by addressing factors that made quitting difficult in the past with a customized treatment plan that combines medications, behavioral treatments, phone-based check-ups, stress management tactics and access to research and case studies.

Candidates for the program do not have to be current Duke Health patients and include anyone interested in changing their tobacco use* in hopes of providing patients treatment options that will help them quit for good. (*Includes cigarettes, snuff, chewing tobacco, cigars, cigarillos, e-cigarettes, or other tobacco products)
