(Durham, NC—April 1, 2019) The Duke Health Integrated Practice and the Duke Departments of Ophthalmology and Surgery are aligning forces with North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat (NCEENT) to expand access to ophthalmic, optometry, otolaryngology, audiology and speech services to patients throughout Durham, Person, Orange, and Wake counties.

As of April 1, NCEENT’s five locations will become Duke Health practices. Its 14 physicians will become Duke Health physicians, and more than 80 staff will become employees of the Duke Health Integrated Practice, the physician practice of Duke Health.

“NCEENT’s five locations will give new and existing patients better access to ophthalmic and ENT services,” said Paul Newman, senior vice president, Duke Health Integrated Practice. “By aligning the rich histories of NCEENT and Duke, we’re expanding access and opportunities for all of our patients.”

NCEENT has provided ophthalmic and ENT services in the greater Triangle since 1914. NCEENT providers and medical staff are board certified and highly trained to deliver specialized care in the areas of ophthalmology, optometry, otolaryngology, audiology and speech pathology.

“The physicians and employees of North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat are honored to align with the Duke Health Integrated Practice. NCEENT (formerly McPherson Hospital) has been a leader in providing ophthalmology and otolaryngology care for the community, active in medical research, and has provided training of new physicians," said Gregory Hulka, MD, president, North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Board of Directors. "NCEENT welcomes the opportunity to serve patients within Duke Health system."

As of April 1, these locations and providers will begin using the Duke Epic system and their patients will have access to Duke MyChart. All locations are accepting new patients and referrals from Duke providers.
