PDC Leadership Election Results

Duke PDC

The election of DHIP leadership positions was held at last week's DHIP Board of Managers meeting.

The Board re-elected Dr. Ben Alman, chair of the Department of Orthopaedics, as chair of the Board. Dr. Ann Reed, chair of the Department of Pediatrics, was re-elected as vice chair; and Dr. Solomon Aronson of the Department of Anesthesiology as at-large vice chair. Reed and Aronson will serve two year terms.

Dr. John Sampson, chair of the Department of Neurosurgery, was elected DHIP president. Sampson will retain his position as department chair during his tenure as president.

The terms for Drs. Sampson and Alman will end 90 days after integration (should it take place), or on March 31, 2019, whichever comes first.

Drs. Sampson and Alman will use their complementary strengths to work together to support and lead the strategic direction of the physician practice. This shared leadership structure will be important as we enter a critical phase in discussions around integration.
